Email Quota Warnings ​

Overview ​

If your mailbox reaches its storage limit, you may receive quota warnings or experience issues sending/receiving email. This guide explains how to handle those warnings.

What Happens When You Hit Your Quota? ​

  • Incoming messages may bounce back to the sender.
  • You may be unable to send new emails.
  • You’ll see warnings like “Mailbox is full” or “Quota exceeded.”

How to Check Email Usage ​

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Go to E-Mail Accounts.
  3. Locate your email address in the list.
  4. Check the Usage / Max column for current storage.

How to Free Up Space ​

  • Delete old or large emails (especially with attachments).
  • Empty Trash, Spam, and Sent folders.
  • Download emails to a client like Thunderbird and remove them from the server.
  • Enable automatic deletion of old mail in your mail client settings.

Need to Increase Quota? ​

If you’re running out of space regularly, you may want to increase your mailbox quota or upgrade your hosting plan.
